Day~off

My boss just announced that Friday is a holiday for my school. That means we have an additional day off apart from the week long break for raya. However, in the month of October, we'll have 'packed like sardine' programmes being planned for Saturdays. And by then, my Sundays are preoccupied with my Uni tutorials. So it's like back to routine..work and study..tutorials, assignments & exams till mid Dec. Phew.....7-days week. Looks like the Indon maids are far luckier...at least they've a day off and poor me...????

It doesn't make any difference to me whether Friday is a working day or otherwise. As a minority staff in my school, I've got to follow the majority votes. Cuti pun cuti~lah. Can take a short break of "Cuti-Cuti Malaysia".

Roughly ..calculating in my mind...I had been in this profession for sixteen years. No a long duration to 'trumpet' about but it quite a long time to stay in one job. Over the years, had been working far too hard and more often burning out like a damaged candle burnt from both ends.

It's understandable that teachers had high fatal cases of chronic diseases like heart ailments, blood pressure and diabetics compares to other profession.

I had since started to slow down by "work smart, be effective, take care of my responsibilities while in school and also return home at a decent hour. Enjoy time with my family and set aside time to relax and rejuvenate. I had learnt to let loose and avoid classroom problems from affecting my emotional and wellbeing and also built the ability to enjoy life away from school.
The additional challenge of mental anguish faced in school is often filtered and settled at the school premises before I start my car to go home.

Nevertheless, I am committed to my job. I am not being a lazy teacher who rarely enters class...I make sure my responsibilities towards my charges are well taken care off. My pupils are still the priority even though I tried not to let it get in the way with my life.

I've drawn a prominent line between school and home.

My motto.... "Make real effort to be happy as my pupils need a joyful teacher everyday!"
