Tribute to MJ

I wasn’t really a fan of MJ but I did liken some of his hits. I grew up humming some of his numbers @ Beat It, Thriller, Billy Jean…As a teenager in the 80s, guess he was the few idols that we had. Not much of choice in those days. During school performances, MJ’s songs would be used. At parties, youngters would be dancing away with his songs.…Practically MJ’s songs would be played everywhere..! And some innovative ones would be immitating his dance steps @Moon walking. MJ is indeed an icon..King of Pop Past, Present and Future.
Put aside his negative affluences...MJ is indeed the King of Pop.
Tribute to you Michael..Rest in Peace.

Bird Crane Origami

Ah Bah and a Ah Nya had been married for half a century. They had shared almost everything together. They talked about everything to each other with no secrets between them. Except that Ah Nya has a milo tin underneath the bed. She has warned Ah Bah never to open nor ask her about it.

Through the years, Ah Bah has never thought about that milo tin. Until one day, when Ah Nya gotten very sick and the doctor says that she would never recover.

In trying to sort things out, Ah Bah took out the milo tin and took it to his wife's bed.

When it was opened, he saw two bird origami and a stack of money totalling of RM50,000.

Ah Bah enquires about the contents.

"When we're about to get married, my grandmother told me the secret to a happy marriage is never to argue. ". And whenever I got angry with you, I should keep quiet and try to fold an origami bird. It symbolized freedom and happiness.

Ah Bah was so moved and fought back tears. Only two crane bird origami....she had only been angry with him twice over the fifty years of togetherness. He leaped with joy.

Darling,...that explains about the origami...how about the money, where did it come from?"

"Oh..that;s the money I earned from selling the paper birds." she replied.

Urban Monkeys

What do you get when you place monkeys in the zoo?

Answer :- man-key

My Research Proposal

After weeks of sleepless days and nights...sitting in front of my laptop surfing for info, typing and reading....I am glad to announce that I've finally completed my proposal paper. Just email it to my supervisor.

Pray Hard that she accepts my paper...or else I'll have to redo..which I hated most.
If she gives me the green light to proceed, then all I need is some touching up...and I'm ready to summit my proposal....b4 the dateline of 19 July.

As Phua Chu Kang says. "Don't pray-pray".....I know she'll definitely comment on my drafts...coz she's a very fussy and strict lecturer. Sigh. i hope there'll be only minor changes to admend..or else..sakit kepala la.. anyone out there who wants to lend a helping hand...kindly contact me at annlim07@yahoo.com. I need your help to do this research paper. BADLY

I still have one more assignment to do (which I have not start on) ~ Phonetics and Phonology..I dislike this paper coz it's very technical.

Am running out of time...and I need to get it done by this week..coz next week, I'll be away for a course in Pangkor @ 5 days. And of course, I can't afford to use the 'working-time' to complete my assignments.

Will post up some photos of the island...Stay tune.

Research Paper

I have already resumed my studies....moving into my 6th semester. Haha...as blind as the bats...I'm already in my 2nd year.

For this semester, I'll be taking four papers as usual.
Pendidikan Moral Tahun 1
English Phonetics and Phonology
Professional Ethics
School Based Research Project

For the latter paper, I'll need to produce a proposal to carry out a research project pertaining to my field and major @ Education and English as second language. And after weeks of 'fightings' within the wires in my lil brain ...ya ya ya..really squeeze my entire brain cells to THINK. Good practice. Finally, I managed to come up with a topic. I decided on a teaching methodology...Using songs. To do what ? Ya use songs as a tool to deal with what..? After glancing thru my students' textbooks and a thorough study on the syllabus....I decided to dealt with grammar. I think our Malaysian students are lacking of good English grammar. Which aspect of grammar....? Another big question.. When I flipped thru the grammar book...I noticed that 'verbs' seems interesting as many students often make errors at this area. The more mistakes they made, the better as i have more to report later on.

Using songs to deal with grammar @ more precisely 'Verb'. Therefore, I have chosen the title for my research paper,
'The effectiveness of songs in the teaching and learning of regular/irregular verbs to ESL pupils in a rural S.K school.'

For the next couple of days, I will have to do lots of readings, surfing and research. Need to collect input for my writings.

I have already completed the first chapter of my research paper this afternoon.
Chapter 1 consists of
1.Introduction
2. Background of research problems
3. Statement of the problem
4. Purpose of research
5. Significance of research
6. Limitations of research
7. Definitions of terms
8 Summary

Will proceed to Chapter 2 tomorrow. Need to read up....

Frankly speaking, it's ain't easy. Anyone willing to lend a helping hand ? You're most welcome to contact me at annlim07@yahoo.com.

Zoo

We were at the Taiping zoo recently. My boy had been asking too much questions about the birds and the bees...therefore..I decided to take him there and let him seek the answers on his own. No lah...he hasn't gone in depth into human reproductions but he's merely interested in animals-how the look like in real, their characteristics...and things like that.

I attempted to make this a field trip for him...therefore a few days before, I made him watch Astro-Animal Planet @ a few documentaries. Then I showered him with some reading materials @encyclopedias about animals...to arouse his interest. (Believe me..it works). He became get excited and wanted to know more. When he knew that I'm taking him to the zoo.....he was jumping with joy. Though, I was busy with my assignments, but I still need to cater some quality time with him....SACRIFICES.

On that day, I gave him a pocket sized note book so that he could jot down the names of the animals. I even supplied him with a camera..so that he could snap some pics...as I intend to let him learn to make powerpoint slide shows when we return. (a highly ambitious mum).

These are some of the pics that he took....(not bad for an 8 year old kid)

I personally like this one the best.....prove that he had been observant to take notice of something extraordinary....what say you ?

A monkey enjoying his choc milk....intelligent monkey.

Shopping

Favourite past time.....Adults love 'shopping'...esp women and some men too. Every weekends and public holidays, most shopping complexes would be crowded with shoppers be it window shopping or real buyers. And most family outings usually ended up in shopping arcade. Children often tag along when their parents go shopping.

When adults goes around 'shopping' ...the children became the 'victim'. These pics say it all.....

Children are often neglected when the adults got too engrossed with their shopping spree....

What say you ? Have you ever done this before ? Guilty ?

New spectacles

After months of pending, I finally got myself a new pair of spectacles. Yes....I was planning to get one since December last year. Due to my tight schedule, I often put on hold this mission.

Last Saturday, I walked into that Optical shop.... a stone throw away from my home. It had been operating for a year or so. Too lazy to go back to my regular optometrist. Thought perhaps I could get some special discounts or so since the workers knew that I'm a residence in that Taman. In chinese, "Same village, so got special rates"..LOL. In addition, it would be convenient for me to get back to them if I have problems with the glasses.

The optometrist (very young) gave me a computerised eye check to determine my eye sight. I was told to look directly into an image thru a lens. Once he got my eye sight reading, we proceeded into the room, where I was told to read some alphabets of various sizes and colours.

To my surprise, my short sightedness had reduced over the years. According to him, when a person reaches 30s...naturally the power will decreases. To be frank, I had been wearing my current pair of glasses for almost 5 years....which many a times, people would often tease me "out of fashion". Need a up-to-date glasses.....aiyah...no need to be so fashion conscious to follow the latest trend~la.

But alas...I just felt a lil odd to be wearing such an ol fashioned frame which make me look so "Lau Beh". Need to get a trendy one to suit the current trend...LOL.

I picked up this really beautiful vintage frames ....rectangular black frames. And I guess, they suits my large squarish feature pretty well. The frame itself costs RM170. Though, there are many cheaper ones but I find that the quality isn't good. I chose good quality lenses which can withstand scratches and less likely to break unless being hit hard. And the thickness of the lenses is half the ordinary ones which definitely makes the specs lighter. The lenses cost me another RM300. All together RM470. I requested for a discount and finally gotten myself RM50 off.

I was hesitating to get this vintage pair (RM 420) which I like very much. Suits my face and lifestyle perfectly.

I had another option~ a cheaper package. Not so lasting frame (Rm50) and a bulky lens (RM RM130). Rm180 per pair...but the quality is definitely not good.

I was in a dilemma. RM180 and RM420. I could save RM240. A lot of difference. But after some mental calculation, this RM180 pair will only last me a year or so....based on my lifestyle, I'll definitely break it in a couple of months. The frame is pretty thin...made of thin iron.

In the end, I opted for the vintage pair...a more durable pair. RM420..can last me a couple of years....why not ?

I finally got a brand new spectacles which fitted with my prescription!

Employer's response:
Dear Lotty,

It's OK honey, we've got spell check.

Can you start on Monday?

Ann's comments...

With the current economic stage, many had lost their jobs and many are looking for jobs. In order to get a new job, naturally one has to send in an application letter together with the resume. And later proceed to interviews.

Interviews...

Let's take a look at the above...As an English reader, I'm sure you'll able to decipher the content of the letter. It will take a couple of reading and time...funny leh...!

Well, that's the advantage of being a female...a pretty one and I should say...those with finest assets. When comes a time, where two candidates with equal qualifications and experiences, the one with good 'looks' tends to benefit more in terms first impressions. The interviewer will surely go for looks 1st before any other things. They no longer care about "judging a cover nor deceiving looks..".

What's your comments, dear readers?

Cut & Paste

A popular motivational speaker was entertaining his audience. He said: "The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who wasn't my wife!" The audience was in silence and shock. The speaker added: "And that woman was my mother!"

Laughter and Applause

A week later, a top manager trained by the motivational speaker tried to crack this very effective joke at home. He was a bit foggy after a drink. He said loudly to his wife who was preparing dinner,
"The greatest years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who was not my wife!"

The wife went; "ahhhh!" with shock and rage. Standing there for 20 seconds trying to recall the second half of the joke, the manager finally blurted out
"...and I can't remember who she was!"

By the time the manager regained his consciousness, he was on a hospital bed nursing first degree burns from boiling cooking oil.

Moral of the story: Don't copy if you can't paste!

Good joke wasn't that..? That's the danger of plagiarisms. Ever since I started my degree prog, I had been doing quite a lot of assignments as part of my coursework studies. More often than not, we've been remindered on and again that "plagiarisms is a serious offence". And of course, many of us couldn't care less and still proceed to cut & paste from our seniors'.

Thus, one of my lecturer had mentioned this,

"I faced difficulty grading your assignments. Wanna know why ? I have yet to see a single master piece in this bulk of assignments that I've received. They're merely a smart xerox project..slightly high tech and advanced than Canon or Epson photocopier gadget !" Put you in my shoes, what would you do ? Any comments?"

You didn't proofread your work. Though, I'm tempted to pretend I don't notice that you didn't produce this piece on your own but merely cutting and pasting from another person. I'll be reading the exact paragraph -word by word..from a few assignments. Miracle isn't it...to get a bunch of people whom share the same thoughts..!

Ann's point of view...

well--well well...as a working adult student, we really do know the time to indulge fully inyo our assignments. Juggling studies between work and family, mind you..it's ain't easy. Therefore, we usually copy-paste some of our senior works and claim them as our own. As a matter of fact, our senior didn't mind at all. They too had gone thru the similar path. It's typically a recycle matter...

After all, we only further our studies with only one aim in mind. Obtaining a degree @ a paper qualification and then hopefully proceed to a higher scale and getting some monetary benefits. At the end of the day, it's all about $$$ ! LOL..

Bruised arm

Last Sunday, during one of my weekly routine mopping chore, I tripped. A good reminder, always make sure the mop is squeezed dry before you roll it all over the tiles. never allow the floor to be wet. Yours truly was a bit 'lazy' and partially drain dry the mop as I thought the full blast of the ceiling fans~ya the three propellers were in full speed like those of helicopters about to take off). In another words, I was being a lil lazy to squeeze dry the mop...it's not easy ya. Therefore, I went circling the entire living room with my mop. As I was busy scribbling chinese calligraphy....

.......the phone rang....

Haha..sounds like a drama... kah? Hey...am not creating stories to generate traffic in annlim07@blogspot.com. True one...I have proof with snap shots !

I moved a lil faster to reach the telephone which is merely a few steps away....tum tup tom..tummmmmmmmm. I tripped and my arm hit against the sharp corner of the TV rack. What a right spot to hit ? At least, my head and face were spare..!!!! Ouch.........for a moment, I felt numbed all over. My first thought was...fractured arm..die liow..! Bandaged arm..oh no. Then I felt sharp pain on my left arm. A huge bump...swell to the size of a burger bun or slightly smaller... exaggerating !

So damn painful. I cried buckets....of course la...couldn't bear the pain. Put you in my shoes...I'm sure the strongest macho guy would shed tears.

I applied 'minyak gamat' and rubbed hard .....ouch...! My son was asking me whether should he call for an ambulance...seeing me crying and panting. putting up a brave front, I assured him that his mummy is alright. deep inside, the pain was intolerable. Only Lord Buddha knows.

For the past two days, I couldn't raise my arm. I faced difficulty getting dress esp having to buckle my bra..! I resorted to wearing the front opening one. Luckily I remembered buying one for fashion purposes. Front opening ones aren't comfortable compare to the usual back hooks ones. Alright..Am not doing free promotions for lingerie. Triumph Sdn Bhd...any job vacancy...if you don't mind having a flat chest model..haha? No la..your truly ..only eyeing for the Managerial post with a 5 figure monthly income...hahaha..dreaming again, Ann.

Tried to take a couple of photo.. Once again, ain't easy to take shots of oneself...one hand holding the camera, the other injured with bruise.

Look at the bruise not the fatty arm.

Filial Daughter

The Star-Tuesday June 2, 2009
Teen goes online to help lonely mother find partner
A LONELY divorcee has asked her 15-year-old daughter to look for a male partner online, China Press reported.
The woman, in her 40s, divorced her husband about 13 years ago and has been raising the daughter on her own ever since.
The daily said the girl posted for help on a website, asking her Internet friends to introduce a suitable “candidate” to her mother.
She said the man should be between 30 and 40 years old and about 170cm tall. He should also be a professional and is considerate as well as understanding.
The daily said a lot of people responded to her call and suggested that she invited her mother to attend social activities while some even wanted to befriend the mother and daughter.

Wow...a child seeking for a life partner for her mother via online. The mother whom had been a divorcee for the past 13 years and single-handedly brought up her only daughter. The daughter had since grown up and in return searching for a step dad. The daughter must have pitied her mother and decided to look for a soul mate for her mum via the net.
What a filial daughter !

Fireman

A FIREMAN came home from work one day and told his wife,
'You know, we have a wonderful system at the fire station:
BELL 1 rings and we all put on our jackets,
BELL 2 rings and we all slide down the pole,
BELL 3 rings and we're on the fire truck ready to go.

'From now on when I say BELL1
I want you to strip naked.

When I say BELL2
I want you to jump in bed.

And when I sayBELL3
We are going to make love all night.

The next night he came home from work and yelled

'BELL1!' The wife promptly took all her clothes off.

When he yelled 'BELL 2!', the wife jumped into bed.

When he yelled ' BELL 3!', they began making love.

After a few minutes the wife yelled 'BELL 4!'

'What the hell is BELL4?' asked the husband?

'ROLL OUT MORE HOSE,' she replied '

YOU'RE NOWHERE NEAR THE FIRE.

* I received this cute email from a friend and thought it would be interesting to post it here for a good laugh. So to you egoistic males out there, try not to show off your authority too much. Your weapon is merely an ordinary one. LOL
