Cut & Paste

A popular motivational speaker was entertaining his audience. He said: "The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who wasn't my wife!" The audience was in silence and shock. The speaker added: "And that woman was my mother!"

Laughter and Applause

A week later, a top manager trained by the motivational speaker tried to crack this very effective joke at home. He was a bit foggy after a drink. He said loudly to his wife who was preparing dinner,
"The greatest years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who was not my wife!"

The wife went; "ahhhh!" with shock and rage. Standing there for 20 seconds trying to recall the second half of the joke, the manager finally blurted out
"...and I can't remember who she was!"

By the time the manager regained his consciousness, he was on a hospital bed nursing first degree burns from boiling cooking oil.

Moral of the story: Don't copy if you can't paste!

Good joke wasn't that..? That's the danger of plagiarisms. Ever since I started my degree prog, I had been doing quite a lot of assignments as part of my coursework studies. More often than not, we've been remindered on and again that "plagiarisms is a serious offence". And of course, many of us couldn't care less and still proceed to cut & paste from our seniors'.

Thus, one of my lecturer had mentioned this,

"I faced difficulty grading your assignments. Wanna know why ? I have yet to see a single master piece in this bulk of assignments that I've received. They're merely a smart xerox project..slightly high tech and advanced than Canon or Epson photocopier gadget !" Put you in my shoes, what would you do ? Any comments?"

You didn't proofread your work. Though, I'm tempted to pretend I don't notice that you didn't produce this piece on your own but merely cutting and pasting from another person. I'll be reading the exact paragraph -word by word..from a few assignments. Miracle isn't it...to get a bunch of people whom share the same thoughts..!

Ann's point of view...

well--well well...as a working adult student, we really do know the time to indulge fully inyo our assignments. Juggling studies between work and family, mind you..it's ain't easy. Therefore, we usually copy-paste some of our senior works and claim them as our own. As a matter of fact, our senior didn't mind at all. They too had gone thru the similar path. It's typically a recycle matter...

After all, we only further our studies with only one aim in mind. Obtaining a degree @ a paper qualification and then hopefully proceed to a higher scale and getting some monetary benefits. At the end of the day, it's all about $$$ ! LOL..
