Our country is 51 today. Happy Birthday...
Our country is no longer a safe place to live anymore.
Everywhere is dangerous...public areas, schools, offices, factories....There seemed to be too many crime happenings. The overall crime rate is increasing everyday.
Children are confined within the compound of their own house. Walk to the nearby playground without the supervision of an adult is a big No No..!
Young girls are reminded over and again not to walk alone along the streets and alleys even on broad day light.
Carrying Prada & Gucci handbags are no more a fashion thing as they invite danger.
Having multiple pockets on your pants is useful to store you cash and valuables when you're out there.
School children are been chauffeur-ridden even though their school is merely a stone-throw away.
Home sweet home is not safe too because house "break-in" are so rampant that it's no surprise if the burglars decided to satisfy their sexual desires at the same time.
Reminising the good-ol-days way back in the 70s.... hardly heard of such incidents.
Our country is in such a chaos now. Policy makers seemed to be at logger heads with each other.
Therefore, my fervent merdeka wish is to have a save place to live....not only for myself but for my future generations...

Compatibility (3)
A week later
Grandma ordered Thau Tua’s mother, Lim Lau Bo to the century old, infamous “Tua Pek Kong” temple to seek the divine's help to calculate the compatibility of the couple.
Therefore, Madam Lau Bo secretly took her son’s birth particulars and that of his fiancee to Master Bo Nau. According to Chinese beliefs, every individual’s fate and luck very much lies on their date and time of birth. The marriage of two individual are also dependent of the compatibility of their date of birth in the Chinese almanac.
Meanwhile, Madam Lau Bo is feeling apprehensive about the results. There is a strange feeling of unease gnawing some where in her stomach. She shakes her head, aghast at such thoughts. It would be disastrous if the birthdates don’t match.
The invitation cards are well distributed to all relatives and friends……the entire villagers are invited to the grand occasion.
The compatibility results would definitely jeopardize the occasion if it turn out otherwise.
Madam Lau Bo sigh….
She decides to burn some incense and pray to the deities in the temple…hoping things would turn out fine.
Anxiously and patiently, everyone waited for Master Bo Nau to check into his thick partially torn almanac book. He occasionally played with his fingers as if he’s counting something. Then he rolled a pair of wooden crescent shaped block onto the floor.
When will the results be ready..? Soon…

Bad sweep (2)
On the 1st day of CNY, Mary, who is a British, committed a gravely offence ~ she swept the floor. Mary being a typical westerners.....whom grew up and spent all her life in England , had never been exposed to any traditional chinese beliefs.
Thau Tua’s grandmother was flabbergasted. “No one is allowed to sweep the floor on such an auspicious day! This action would mean sweeping the luck and prosperity away for the rest of the year.”
As fate would have it, a series of mishap did follow and poor Mary had to take the blame for everything.
Like…grandmother missed her Dai Ma Cai by merely one digit…..3883
She had invested RM50 for 3882 on new year's day.
Grandma puts the blame on Mary for sweeping off her “Chai”…..she no longer has the “Ong” in her. Her luck for the next 364 days would be as ‘Sui’ as now due to the broom incident.
Meanwhile, Thau Tua’s dad, Mr Lim Puak Kiau lost a few thousands in his New Year Mah Jong session. And Madam Lim Lau Bo cut her thumb while preparing the CNY dishes. On the other hand, Lim Leng Tua’s handbag was snatched on her CNY house-visiting trip.
A strings of bad luck…..happened to every member of the Lim’s family including Thau Tua whom was down with severed diarrhoea. Even the family Rottweiler~Kau Kia was being attacked by neighbour's pariah kau.
Of course, Mary was destined to be the culprit behind all these mishaps. Naturally, grandma puts the blame on Mary’s unforgivable action on the 1st day of CNY.
Everyone in the Lim's household agreed that it's Mary's fault.....
There seemed to be a small niggling fear of growing resentment and prejudice against a foreign granddaughter-in-law.
Would the Lim matriach ever be able to accept Mary into the family ?
Coming next~
~~~~~~
Hey..although the entire Lim's family had been experienced a bad sweep....but not for yours truly. The government had just announced that civil servants will be awarded a one month bonus.... ! In lieu with the current price hike of fuel and essential goods.....this cash will serve a great help to us.
Clipping from The Star
A bonus of one-month salary, subject to a minimum of RM1,000 for 2008. The bonus will be paid in two instalments, namely in September and December 2008.
Ang Moh Kau (1)
Mary and Lim Thau Tua (1)
Mary Parker and her fiancé returned to Penang to celebrate CNY with his family members as well as to make the neccesary arrangements for their impending wedding.
Mary and her Malaysian Chinese Hokkien fiance is scheduled to tie the knots according the chinese rites next month.
Mary and Lim Thau Tua have both done well in their respective fields. Both Harvard graduates with first class honours and currently residing in England.
Although, the couple had registered their marriage with the US Civil Marriage bureau but their union is unrecognized till they undergo the customary chinese wedding..
In the Chinese eyes, their marriage has not properly officiated until their notify all their relatives and friends including the dead ancestors !
It’s a big NO..NO for them to consummate their relationship right now.
“Tua Kin Su"…..if they share the same room.
It’s ILLEGAL.
Double messy if Mary is to get pregnant…..the poor child will be cast as illegitimate.
As a results, Mary had to temporary bunk with Thau Tua’s sister, Lim Leng Tua.
“Sis, hope you understand our Chinese custom though you might think it’s conservative. The older folks might be furious if they see both of you sharing the same room before your wedding. We want to avoid gossips prior to your wedding.”, Leng Tua explained.
Mary utters while embracing her future sis-in-law, “Don’t worry….I understand.”
The reunion dinner was a grand affair especially with the presence the Lim’s precious grandson, Lim Thau Tua. He had missed a few reunions as he had been abroad for a couple of years.
Everything went on smoothly. Though, Mary felt Chinese food a bit bland but she still swallowed the tasteless food in order to please the folks.
After that, Mary joined the Lim’s family to the altar to offer prayers to the God Of Heaven hoping that the family would be blessed with loads and tons of luck throughout the year.
An incident occured that changes Mary's life forever.
Open letter
An open letter to the winner of The Permatang Pauh by~election.
With a majority of 15,671 votes, the rakyat had decided to "take a chance" by putting you back in Parliment.
Perhaps the rational factor behind this decision is that our nation needs to be rid off the racist sentiment.
"Anak Melayu, anak kita, anak Cina anak kita, anak India, pun anak kita. Mengapa harus kita bezakan?”
ONE CITIZENSHIP, ONE NATION!!
Isn't that a beautiful concept?
The rakyat is being divided ....all because the nation is govern by a certain party for far too long.
For the past weeks,you have been making policy statements that seemed to be in line with the aspirations of the rakyat.
You have made many pledges and promises to the rakyat.
You promised to recover the nation’s wealth that has been stolen from the rakyat.
You pledged to restore what is rightfully due to the rakyat.
Therefore, keep your promises to the rakyat.
All the best in your returned to Parliament.
The rakyat hopes that you would discharge and perform your duties faithfully while you're in there.
Embarrassing
Something really "malu~fying" happened today.
I was in the midst of teaching...when I noticed my pupils giggling all the way and seems to be whispering something to one another. I reprimanded them for not paying attention.
And one Ellyna, the class chatterbox walked up to me and told me softly...
"Teacher, your blouse ...something wrong!".
WHAT !!!!!!!!
Much to my horror, two buttons had come undone on my blouse! Worst of all, the two buttons were strategically located at my chest area. It partially revealed my "Triumph" ....
I was hoping that the earth would swallowed me at that very moment.
The buttons seemed too small for the button holes.
I smiled and tried not to panic...and immediately excuse myself and moved to a little corner beside the cupboard. I tried to button them as quickly as possible.
Oh gosh...I would anticipate this embarrassing incident to spread like typhoon to the other pupils and soon the entire school.....and yours truly would be the centre of attraction.
Luckily, tomorrow is a public holiday in Penang (P44 by-election).
Human Relationship
I would like to share this story here that I've gotten from the net.
A long time ago, a girl named Ann~Ann got married & move-in with her hubby and MIL.
Soon, Ann~Ann found that she couldn't get along with her MIL.
Their personalities differ.
Ann~Ann was always angered by many of her MIL' s habits.
In addition, she criticized Ann~Ann constantly.
Days passed and weeks passed.
Ann~Ann and her MIL never stopped arguing and fighting.
To make the matter even worse, according to ancient Chinese tradition, Ann~Ann had to kow-tow to her MIL and obey her every wish.
All the anger and unhappiness in the house was causing Ann~Ann's poor husband great distress.
Finally, Ann~Ann could not stand her MIL' s bad temper and dictatorship any longer.
She decided to do something about it!
Ann~Ann approached Mr. Tok Yeok, who sold herbs.
She told him the situation and asked if he would give her some poison so that she could solve the problem once and for all.
Mr. Tok Yeok thought for a while and told, "Ann~Ann... I will help you solve your problem, but you must listen to me and obey what I tell you."
Ann~Ann said, "Yes, Mr. Tok Yeok, I will do whatever you tell me to do."
Mr. Tok Yeok went into the back room and returned in a few minutes with a
package of herbs.
He told Ann~Ann, "You can't use a quick-acting poison to
get rid of your MIL because that would cause people to become
suspicious."
Therefore, I have given you a number of herbs that will slowly build up
poison in her body. Every other day prepare some delicious meal and put
a little of these herbs in her serving.
Now, in order to make sure that nobody suspects you, when she dies you must be very careful to act very friendly towards her.
"Don't argue with her. Obey her every wish, and treat her like a queen."
Ann~Ann was so happy. She thanked Mr. Tok Yeok and hurried home to start her plot of murdering her MIL.
Weeks went by, and months went by and every other day, Ann~Ann served the
specially treated food to her MIL.
She remembered what Mr. Tok Yeok had said about avoiding suspicion.
So she controlled her temper,obeyed her MIL, and treated her like her own mother.
After six months had passed, the whole household had changed. Ann~Ann had
practiced controlling her temper so much that she found that she almost never got mad or upset. She hadn't had an argument with her MIL in six months because she now seemed much kinder and easier to get along with.
The MIL' s attitude towards Ann~Ann changed and she began to love Ann~Ann like her own daughter. She kept telling friends and relatives that Li-Li was the best DIL one could ever find.
Ann~Ann and her MIL were now treating each other like a real mother and
daughter. Ann~Ann's husband was very happy to see what was happening.
One day, Ann~Ann came to see Mr. Tok Yeok and asked for his help again
She said, "Dear Mr. Huang, please help me to keep the poison from killing my MIL.
She had changed into such a nice woman, and I love her like my own mother.
I do not want her to die because of the poison I gave her."
Mr. Tok Yeok smiled and nodded his head.
"Ann~Ann, there's nothing to worry about. I never gave you any poison.
The herbs I gave you were vitamins to improve her health.
The only poison was in your mind and your attitude towards her, but that has been all washed away by the love which you gave to her."
There is a wise Chinese saying:
"The person who loves others will also be loved in return."
Olympics & Permatang Pauh
I got this newpaper clipping from a local chinese daily...and find it quite interesting to share it here in my blog.
There are only two things Malaysians are concerned about this month:
Olympics and the Permatang Pauh by-election.
These two events are never related to each other, except the timing.
Last Sunday (17/08/08) was the golden weekend for the election campaign, politicians were seen busily running around in Permatang Pauh to woo the voters.
That very evening, Lee Chong Wei met China's Lin Dan in badminton final.
The election had to take a back seat, as voters locked themselves at home watching the final.
The two candidates were well aware of the situation, so one politician squeezed himself in front of the TV set in the dining hall, cheering with everyone else for Chong Wei.
On the other hand, the other, made a refreshment stop at a local coffee shop to cheer for the national badminton hero.
That was perhaps the only common thing both candidates were doing at the same time,
a common goal that was accepted by both.
Chong Wei eventually failed to bring back the gold medal, but his popularity was least affected, especially in Permatang Pauh.
Both political parties have wanted to bring the silver-painted baby to their camps.
Moreover, Chong Wei hails from Bukit Mertajam, which is close to Permatang Pauh, like KL to PJ.
The distance between the two towns is so short that even locals could get confused where they actually are.
Even though that was only a silver medal, it is nevertheless a national honour, and the pride of Chong Wei's hometown.
Politicians are highly sensitive people; they wouldn't have given this opportunity a miss!
Chong Wei is a professional sportsman, and we have never heard of him getting enthusiastically involved in politics, or being familiar with politics.
But then, politics go after him, and there is no way he could escape.
One party wants him. So does the other party.
He couldn't have possibly pleased both camps.
This is perhaps another bewilderment he has to go through after his defeat to Lin Dan.
The government instantly disburses the RM300,000 reward to him, plus monthly allowances of RM3,000 for his entire lifetime.
Well, Chong Wei indeed deserves his reward, but without he realising it, he has also become a consumer item in the election campaign.
To consume Lee Chong Wei, is to garner some goodwill and recognition, even to trade for some gratitude.
The speculative tactics in politics, to some extent, reflect the emptiness in the country's sports.
That silver medal looks like the only gain Malaysia could harvest in Beijing.
Malaysia can only count on its badminton games, especially Lee Chong Wei.
Not unlike all the hopes and expectations of China being staked on Liu Xiang.
Chong Wei is a talented player that is hard to come by. It is not easy for him to get the precious silver medal.
Badminton
SYABAS to our Malaysian Hero Lee Chong Wei for winning our very first 2008 Olympics medal....although it's only a silver.
He had fought his very best despite the straight sets loss to that superb Lin Dan. That chinese lad was superb in his smashes.
No big deal of not getting a gold !
One Nation, One dream
That One Nation, One Dream...08~08~2008 Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony was
S-U-P-E-R-B
A-W-E-S-O-M-E
A celebration of humanity....watched by millions all over the world...live on TV.
Due to my busy commitments, I hardly have the time to catch the events....esp gymnastic and swimming being my favourite.
As I don't subscribe to the paying TV channel A~ ~R~O, I don't get the chance to watch it live.
Some more the coverage on the national TV is pretty limited. Options are limited.
However..I'm looking forward for the closing ceremony.
Grasshopper and the Ant
I recalled the fable of the Grasshopper and the Ant as I used to read about it when I was little.
The grasshopper spent the warm months~when food was abundant by indulging in singing & dancing He was generally enjoying himself while the ants worked hard to store up food for the colder months which they knew were coming. And sure enough when winter comes, the ants were prepared and the grasshopper starved.
Well in our own country today–and particularly among the Malaysians –there seems to be a lot of grasshoppers and very few ants. Sadly, the grasshoppers have been spoon-fed by the leaders whom were elected from the grasshopper's community. These lucky grasshoppers had been surviving on the produce of the ants.
Hence, the unlucky ants toiled all their lives to make a decent living and then watched helplessly ......everytime a substantial of their daily produce being given away to their leaders which naturally comprises of the grasshoppers.
For the past 5 decades, the ants had been scarifying for this country which is ruled by the grasshoppers. This had taken a tremendous toll on the ants community.
The grasshoppers dependence on the ants earnings is totally intolerable.
Apparently in the fable version, rather than admitting that he’d been lazy in not preparing for the cold weather, the grasshoppers pretended that there’s actually a winter’s worth of food located just beneath his feet. And that's what keeps him digging up further from the poor ants.
The entire graveyard looked as if it had been hit by hurricane .......what~a~mess !
When my eyes grew accustomed to the blurry atmosphere...
I realized the hooded figure was no longer there.
Wolves howling and owls hooting mercilessly.
A skull was clearly visible at the very spot where he stood earlier.
It’s mouth was gawking a small red pouch.
Lying beside was a long-stemmed rose with drippy blood.
I felt chill right through my spines....I didn't know what to do.
But in the next moment something came to my mind.
With guts, I walked towards the skull.
Slowly, I detached the pouch from the skull’s mouth.
I pried open the pouch.
I shoved my hand into it.
And felt something hard and round.
I lifted it ...out....
...........revealed a dazzling ring...
........accentuated with beautiful diamonds
.....which sparkled under the moonlight ray.
I was stunned ...! Oh Gosh..!
I can't believe what I just saw...!
Suddenly, someone tapped on the shoulder.
When I looked up, John was standing right behind.
He was holding an enormous bouquet of white lilies.
He embraced me and whispers into my ears ..
"Ann, will you marry me?"
I was startled for a moment.
Seeking true eternity happiness...and now I've a second chance.
Should I grab this opportunity?
It took me a great ten minutes to regain my composure.
Then, John knelt down right in front of me and uttered...
"Ann, will you be my wife?"
It was indeed a tough decision to be made.
When I finally nodded my head, John was jumping triumphly with joy.
He immediately lifted my finger and slipped the ring onto my finger.
He repeatedly uttered the phrase, "I love you, Ann".
.....and planted a kiss on my lips.
Suddenly, I felt intense heat.
Followed by shooting pain in my forehead.
A sharp object pierced through my head.
“Dear, everything seems to be spinning", I said panicky.
“Everything seemed out of focus. ....I can’t see!”
In a total darkness...I fell into slumber.
~~~~~~
I woke up.
I was lying on a bed.
In the room upstairs…..
Of that dilapidated mansion.
Head so heavy, eyes could hardly open.
My entire body felt so weak.
Numb all over.
I couldn't move a single inch.
As if I’ve suffered from a stroke.
Then, I noticed a pale shadowy figure standing at the door.
He looked like John but couldn't be him....I can't ascertain ....who ?
"John dear . . .it that y...ou ?"
The figure did not have words, no face, no lips...not even voice anymore.
A whisper spreads over the room....
"You did not exist, a lil bit more and you would not have exist at all."
The whisper calmed down.
The pale shadow dissolved in the thin air.
There was NO John, NO diamond ring, NO marriage proposal and NO love.
There never was.
It was all in a dream.
In a mere illusion.
I was truly sorry.
So sorry that I wished it never was.
But then again.
In the frame it was a dream, it wasn't real.
Just a mystical portrait.
So it never was.
It never happened.
As the ghost dream became more pale and pale.
All my hopes vanished. ....
......little by little.

15th day 7th moon
Today's the 15th day 7th moon of the Lunar calendar..which means the climax of the Hungry Ghost's Festival. This occasion is taken very seriously by the Chinese.
The dead is belief to return to visit their living relatives during the 7th month and thus entertainment and sumptuous meals are prepared to appease these ‘ghosts’. The Chinese feel that they have to satisfy them in order to get good fortune and luck for the rest of the year.
A strong wind was stirring across the hill almost blowing the hood off the head of the lone figure.
The hooded figure stopped in front of a freshly erected tombstone. The mysterious figure crouched in from of the tomb and flashed a torchlight on the grey marble slab....focusing on the small passport size picture of a girl.
"You think you can come back to avenge your death, ah?", the figure snarled.
"Allow me to send you off to where you rightfully belong...tonight.....Let this be your second and final death....hahaaaaaaa !"
The hooded figure cackle reverberated throughout the silent hill.
"No time to waste..I must seal the tomb and complete the rites before 11pm."
The figure poured some water onto the cemented area in front of the tomb. A white cloth was spreaded out to cover the back portion of the grave.
"Guardians of the underworld, I invoke your spirits and your power here tonight".
And now my lovely young lady, it's time to send you off. I ended your life and now I banish your spirit as well..."
Then he flung the talisman high into the air and planted a pair of red candles onto the ground.
With litted joss sticks, he knelt down and started chanting incoherently.
The chants echoed eerily on the silent hill.
A blinding flash of light zapped across the sky.
Lightnings and roaring thunder.
When the chanting stopped....
A loud explosion occurred right in the middle of the tombstone.
Bangggg..................Thummmmmmmmm
The entire area was blurred....and as the smoke disperse....I saw....
The tomb looked as if it had been hit by hurricane .......what~a~mess !
to be continue.
May Lord Buddha bless the livings as well as the dead on this Ghostly month.

On the night of the 15th day 7th moon...an incident happened....
It was twilight...the spooky hour between sunset and nightfall. A lone hooded figure was walking stealthily up the hilly terrain. A mysterious silhouette against the looming darkness that was slowing eating up the dying flames of the evening sun.

Ann & Ants

In this little plot of land beside my house, I was removing unsightly weeds which are great nuisances. The greedy grass robbed nutrients from the soil that limited the growth of my precious vegetables plants.
While plucking the 'wild grass', I felt a sharp pinch on my left toe.
“Ouch..! That hurts.”
When I looked down, I saw a tiny weenie ant prickling my skin with its "spear".
I quickly brushed him aside to avoid further attack. I rubbed my foot to ease the itchiness created by the bite. It was slightly swollen but I knew it would disappear in no time.
A colony of reddish ants was seen crawling towards me. Probably I had invaded into their little territory ..that’s why they’re attempting to protect it. They must be the fiery army ants based on their protruding abdomen which served as their weapon.
I moved and squatted a little further. It was rather interesting to watch those ants as I gotten this idea to post about it in my blog.
I peered at the tiny creatures with fascination.

Each ant was carrying a tiny morsel of food.
“They looked funny but smart and intelligent”, I thought.

Ants are known to have this hardworking nature.
They effortly search, find, collect, transport and store their food in preparation for the bad weathers. Unlike human …whom are simply too lazy to work. A certain quarters rely on the government to “feed” them. Along with the special privileges like subsidies, quota and a listful~ seems to make these people even lazier to move their bums. What say you ?
Ants created beautiful team-work operations
“They're the most industrious and co-operative living creature on earth,” I should say.

When performing their task, ants are very systematic, organized, disciplined, orderly and wise too.
The ants colony
The Queen's role is for reproduction purposes….(easy job huh…day in day out only sit and lay eggs). There is only ONE Queen. And she worked hard to expand her community.
Hey...ain't easy laying eggs...you know. But she never complains coz it's her duty.
Meanwhile, the soldiers act as the guardian (hundredth times better that our country's defence force)
The worker ants are responsible for the food searching task. Hey...you think easy ...ah to prepare food for thousands mouths !
Each and every ant has their own duty to perform. There's no time-table nor written rules for the to follow. Work is done in perfect harmony with no personal grudges among their peers. They perform their respective tasks ever so diligently and without the slightest whimper nor complaint.

Ants don't need any bonuses, salary increments, recognitions, awards, .....in order to fulfill their daily job. They don't "murder" each other for promotions. They don't "stab each others back". The strong ones don't abuse their power by squeezing their weaker counterparts for more gains. Ants don't segregate their species according to colours.....simply no discrimination.
Every single ant is equally important.
Surprisingly, ants need not have to attend any team building nor motivational courses in order to work well as a team. The irony is that ants do not have brains as sophisticated like human beings. Therefore, why can this tiny creature act so wonderfully in their daily life and NOT human beings?

See how extraordinary ants can be?
Human should emulate and learn from Ants and if possible behave like one too….of course..la..I’m not asking you to act like the Queen Ant.

All are equal but....
We had our Annual Prize-Giving Day last Saturday. As the usual norm, awards were presented to the deserving students. However, there was slight different this year. Our PTA(Parents Teachers Association) had decided to give recognition to a group of teachers whom are teaching exams classes @ Year 6.
Sure enough, this had created some discomfort among the other teachers.
I believe duly recognition should be given to all teachers whether they teach in Year 1 or Year 6.
The students excelled in their academic through the sheer hard work and effort put in by all their teachers which began from the first day she steps into school.
Naturally, Year 1-5 teachers had laid a solid foundation on the students before they proceed to Year 6.
The fundamental concrete lay out had been properly cemented even before they step into Year 6.
Indirectly, these teachers had helped to produce excellence UPSR results to these students.
Rome is not build in a day.
Making the students master the alphabets, grammar rules and later writing meaningful compositions don’t just happen overnight.
It takes years to master these skills.
And who helped these students to grasp these basic skills?
Learning the various mathematical equations, formulas and scientific facts needed much effort from the teachers to patiently guide the students day in day out.
And who helped these students to learn these simple digits calculations?
As a beautician, The Year 1 teachers played a major role in producing the colours and shades and finally being given the final touch up by the Year 6 teachers.
The Year 1 teachers had created the entire picture of a jigsaw puzzle and the final piece is being put into place by the Year 6 teachers.
Everything begins with a simple A,B, C and 1 plus 1 equals 2.
Don’t you think, our contributions are equally as important as those of the Year 6?
Are we only considered a doormat ?
Is there a fairness here ?
In George Orwell “Animal Farm”- one of the commandments sounds….
ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL
BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE
EQUAL THAN OTHERS.
Likewise, there’s no fairness in human lives as well..

Transferring Joy
Years ago……
I was at the hospital, visiting a relative with my little toddler son.
As we were walking along the hallway, I heard an excruciating cry coming from a ward.
I briefly peeked into the room in amazement….only to find out that there were no nurses or anyone else responding to the patient’s plea.
It turned out to be a white haired woman who was sitting up on her bed crying loud.
“Oh, I’m in so much pain. Please… , someone help me…
.I no longer can bear the pain anymore. Let me die…let me die.
Slowly, I walked towards her bed.
The lady couldn’t see us because she was paying all her attentions towards her agony. Her eyes were shut tight as she cried out her pain.
Suddenly, I heard a voice calling inside me….”Take the child and place him on her lap.”
I was worried and fearful as I did not know her at all.
“What if she has some kind of contagious illness that could have passed to my child ?
“What if she is senile and may harm my lil boy”?
“What if she opens her eyes and gotten startled that she has heart attack?”
Lots of “what if” thoughts raced through my mind as we ventured closer and closer.
Without the lady noticing, I set my child beside her. Almost immediately, she stopped screaming and opened up her eyes.
She uttered “This is indeed a handsome baby boy”.
She seemed to have suddenly lost all her sense of pain.
Her face lit up as if she isn’t suffering from any pain.
Her painful expression was replaced with one joy.
And I knew I had witnessed a miracle.
She said over and again…. “This is indeed a handsome baby boy”.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as the pain gradually disappeared.
Care and loving thoughts are the medicine to pain.
What say you?

Old Lady
On my way back from school just now, I stumbled upon this lady probably in her 60s (judging from her haggard look). She was busy ransacking the heap of garbage. She searched frantically for cash among the trash oblivious of the presence of onlookers.
Many a times.....we don't realised that many of our discarded items are treasure to these people who can make money out of them.
I observed her for a good ten minutes as she continued with her treasure hunting.
She carefully filled the gunny sacks with stuffs that she recovered from the site.
The protruding hump emerging from her back must be the results of the daily weights.
I sympathized with her.
Unfortunately, I'm unable to do much to help her. Guilty..la.
I wonder...where are her children ?
This incident makes me reflect upon what would happen to me .....four decades from now.
Am I going end up like her ?
What will my twilight years be ?
Is my son going to neglect me as well?
Remembering Doris Day's number....
"Que sera..sera...what ever will be will be...The future's not for us to see"
Perhaps..I need to draw up a plan for my retirement age now.
Or else my fate would be similar like this old lady.
HOPEFULLY NOT

Wedding
I attended a friend's wedding last night. The dinner was held at an open-air seafood restaurant...about 80 tables. The bride's father is a well-to-do businessman therefore they could afford to lavish such a wedding dinner.
Suprisingly, a wedding in the 7th month of the Lunar calendar. Pretty unusual...perhaps they picked 08-08-08 to tie the knots..... and then a wedding dinner a day after ....so that it doesn't coincide with the Olympic Opening.
She is my former colleague way back in the 90s. It was through her that I learnt to speak mandarin. Thanks..dear.
Back to the wedding reception, well the usual chinese course dinner...how many courses..aiyo, I forgot to take note. 8 or 10...I guess.
My friend, Yuen Ming looked radiant in her pink off-shoulder gown. Her other half was equally dashing in his tuxedo.
However, he's on the plump side...as a results he looked a bit odd in it...esp the abdomen area. The red broad waistband made his pouch more obvious. Opps...I'm not suppose to "perli" other people's 'darling" over here in my blog. Sorry.
I always admired guys in tuxedo..look very smart and decent. But of course he needs a shapely body to go with the tuxedo. hahaha
I was seated with my other ex colleagues....as usual we exchange small as well as big talks while awaiting for the dinner to begin. Chinese dinner accorded to Malaysian time....common la.
I hate to wait. Luckily...I wasn't alone with total strangers....or else it would be pretty awkward to strike a conversation with unfamiliar people.
There was a slide show presentation on the screen behind us. Quite entertaining of sort....it displayed the couple's story....how they met and things like that..la.
The very much waited moment had arrived......announcement of the entrance of the couple. Ta~da...they paraded into the hall walking with the rhythmic flow of the "Wedding March".
Actually everyone were more interested in the food. Hungry la.
The first one, "The Cold Dish" (got a few variety of stuff as appetiser). Then, the shark's fin. Followed by roasted chicken/duck, Steamed pomfret, mushroom, tom~yam prawns, .......what else ya...! Probably..I couldn't recall because I had skipped the last few dishes. Didn't want to overload my stomach...coz at such age ..my body metabolism rate had depreciated.
Then..the highlight of function..."Yam Seng" (Toasting ) and "Cake Cutting" ceremony. The usual scenes at chinese wedding. Never fail to miss this special event. The bride looked resplendent in her "Chi Pao"....she has nice hourglass body to match her chinese outfits.
The sporting bridegroom went up the stage to present a song specially dedicated to his new bride. He sang a chinese number to the applause of the guest. He has a melodious voice. After that, the bridal couple went from table to table to thank their guest. Hopefully, the bridegroom would not be too drunk to commemorate his wedding night...hahaha
All the best to Yuen Ming and hubby.
Congratulations.

Lessons at G.Tempurung
I always thought I'm able to know everything just by reading about it, surf about it or watched it on TV.
But the truth is, I don't.
I wont truly know how something is like until I experience it first hand.
I thought I know what a cave is like until I went caving at Gua Tempurung.
It occurred to me that I actually don't know a lot of things I thought I already knew.
Gua Tempurung..... Tempurung means coconut shell.
A certain part of the cave looks like a coconut shell, hence the name.
Words cannot describe the beauty on the inner cave. The view was spectacular!
It was cool inside. The kind of coolness which was different from the outside world.
As I climbed stairs, crawled underneath narrow pathway, trailed thru muddy water, slid down a very steep slope and squeezed into a hole......I experienced a lots of hardship.
After that, I began to appreciate living in the 21st century and not in the Flintstones era.
This cave is homogeneous. If I got lost, I can never find my way out. We rely solely on our guide..Tok Misai. For the first time in my life, I'm so dependent on someone.
A certain portion of this cavern was in total absence of light.
I was blind as the bat when I switched off my torch.
It was another kind of darkness...very eerie kind.
I opened my eyes, looked 360 degrees ....I could not see anything at all.
I thought if I open my eyes wide enough, I would at least see something.
But it was pitch black.
At that moment, I felt lucky to be able to see with my eyes.
I began to feel for the blinds.
Ya..I learnt a lot from this Gua Tempurung trip.

Fatt~Fatt~Fatt
The homonym figure of eight....A catchy number...literary means prosperity in Chinese.
Yup..an auspicious day today which occurs once in every century.
Today's a special day and I need to perform and do something good today so that I could cherish it for life. Just wondering if anyone has any special things they're planning to do for this day? definitely, there will be some interesting collectible available for this date.
In another 2 hours...it will be 8.08 am....8-08-2008.
I'll be in school (Today's Friday)...teaching my bunch of pupils in the classroom. A noble job !
The Beijing Olympic Games...starts today.
It's gonna be lots of triumph, glory excitement and fun.
One world, one dream
Hundredth weddings on the card....happy couples tying the knots and starts a new chapter of their life story. Ending their bachelorhood and plunging into couple~ship.
It's gonna take lots of effort to a blissful life together...Good Luck.
A couple, I personally know will be registering their marriage today. Guess....it's auspicious today with the triple figure of eight. Tmrow they'll go thru the customary chinese rites.
shhhhhh, I too dreamt of walking down the aisle on this supposed lucky day, but I’m just happy now it won’t come true, otherwise it's disaster....hahaha
Birthdays..
Delivery rooms..babies being born.
Think about all these special kids born today.
In eight years they can say, "I'm eight years old and I was born on 08-08-08."
Now, that is pretty cool..la.
Creating something for my blog...
Can't do it in the morning as I'm in school.....but perhaps this evening when I'm back home.
8.08pm...08-08-2008.
To be continue..
Back from school. Practically did nothing the whole afternoon...except baking a loaf of wholemeal. The entire house smells so good now as the bread is developing in the oven. Will tar pau some satays and curry from the pasar malam later.....it would be perfect to dip the freshly baked loafy bread into the curry....and straight into the mouth. yummy yummy
Had planned to read my module..(at least a chapter)..but tak jadi...brain could hardly register anything. Attempt to read ....not even half a page, felt sleepy already.
Concentration unable to last long. Simply ...mood tak~da.
Can recommend any "Brain Viagra" ah?
To enhance my brain so that it can become strong, powerful and energetic ...!
I think the best option is to take a short nap now so that tonight can catch the Beijing Live Telecast.

The After-Effect of Gua Tempurung
Pain~Fool
Six days already.... the agony still exist.....My muscles esp. on my calf areas are still very much in pain. The strenuous activity left me with sore muscles on my limbs.
I got two cuts, one on my knee and the other on my finger. Presently, my body is aching all over. I suspected it was due to the improper "stretching exercises" prior to the hiking.
Furthermore, my inactive lifestyle (lack of exercise)...also contributed to the pain.
Had been a couch-potato ...hardly perform any physical exercise.
Am unable to squat as the muscles tend to pull hard which causes the pain. Getting down stairs is pretty much a chore for the past few days.
Ouch !
Cave~ad~vice
An advice from me. Wear good quality shoes if you intend to join the river adventure. The slopes are rather slippery....so if you wear old shoes without "bunga" then be prepared to hurt your bum hard on the rocks.
In additions, old shoes may not be reliable to withstand your vigorous walk in the water.
A terrible incident happened to my colleague during our exploration. She was reluctant to wear her brand new sports shoes...so she wore her old pair. Halfway thru...her shoes bottom base got torn...the adhesive glue was too old already.
At first..only one side....after a while..both sides. In the end, she had to remove her shoes and walked barefoot. She wanted to patah balik but we were already quite far from the entrance. Therefore..she had no choice but to carry on.
Salute her strong determinations.
Hey....love yourself first before you love your shoes..okay.
If you love your shoes so much, who's gonna love you..leh?
Guess what she did ?
She took the rubber base of her shoes. Insert them into her socks..and wear them. "Kasut buatan sendiri". Great inventions . Even Jimmy Choo...cannot compete with her.
She walked for more than two hours with her socks and rubber base.
We nick-named her...."Wanita Berstoking Getah".
So dear readers...if you intend to visit Gua Tempurung and experience the wet adventure, "Good Quality Shoes" is a MUST. Or you'll regret if your shoes go awry.
We came acrossed many broken shoes in the cave.....must be from those previous visitors.
"Harimau mati tinggal belang, manusia mati tinggal nama, kasut mati, pakailah sarung kaki"
Another story...
Another colleague of mine was so petrified about leeches that she applied "minyak gamat" @ P. Langkawi Golden sea-cucumber juice. She poured almost half a bottle of that "smelly oil" onto her trousers and shoes to avoid the blood sucking worms.
She really stinks wherever she goes...! Guess...the other insects would stay 10 feet away from her ..la.
However...where on earth does one find leeches in limestone caves?
Next story
After caving the cave, we had a sumptuous lunch outside. The senior colleagues cooked up a storm for the hungry bugs. Looks like these teachers had chosen the wrong profession...they shud be chefs instead.
The menu are
chicken rendang,lemang, ketupat, charcoal BBQ honey chicken, Gado-Gado, ulam...noddles...rice.
We swept clean all the delicious food in a split second.
Baru saja burnt out the extra calories (while hiking), now replenished the lost kilos with food. Back to square one..lo.
A big hand to these fantastic chefs...who managed to produce such wonderful meals with limited source. Thank you kakak-kakak & makcik-makcik.
Terima kasih kak keladi, kalau ada masa masak-lah lagi.

Gua Tempurung
Gua Tempurung @ Coconut Shell Cave
Sliding~Down

Back to civilization
2nd August, Saturday, my school organised a "Team Building" programme @ Gua Tempurung Expedition.
This cave is believed to be more than 400 million years.
It was indeed a tiring trip with strenuous activities. Nevertheless, I had a great time with my colleagues.
The journey began
The bus left our school at 8am. A bus and two MPVs.
Breakfast
We stopped for makan at Bukit Merah. The food was prepared by some of my colleagues. Although they were pre-packed and a bit cold but somehow all of us enjoyed them. Perhaps eating together made it fun and delicious. It sort of like a picnic along the rest area with our "Tar Pau" stuffs.
Bus ride
A few were chit chatting at the back of the bus while most of those sitting in front watched a Hindi movie @Shah Rukh Khan~Chak De India. The plot was rather straight forward; about the hockey players fighting spirits to gain victory.
However, I wasn't a fan of Hindustani stuff nor the actors.
The Destination
The Destination
We finally arrived at Gua Tempurung at 11.10a.m. Everyone was so excited! Some queue-up to empty their bladders. Nature calls ~RM 0.50 (nothing is free...). While others, surveyed the place. A few started to shop for souvenirs.
All of us were fully geared up for the exploration. Comfortable socks, shoes and clothes (advisable long sleeves T-shirt and long pants).
The Preparation
Of course the very first thing we did was "warming up exercises" to loosen up the tight muscles. This exercise is vital as it could prevent us from experiencing cramps and other injuries during the strenuous activity in the cave.

Package Tour
1. Golden Flow stone Tour RM5
2. Top of The World ~RM9
2. Top of The World ~RM9
3. Top of The World & River Adventure ~RM11
4. Grand Tour ~RM15
Our Package
The whole group of us comprises of 48 staffs (minus the absentees with/out reasons). About 15 senior staffs/pregnant/unfit chose to remain outside the cave to cook for us. The strenuous activity were definitely not their game.
Meanwhile the remainder 33 of us opted for the Top of the world with river adventure.
We had our own tour guide whom he called himself Tok Misai, he was indeed a very funny guy.
He briefed us about the safety precaution we need to adhere throughout the expedition. He tried to scare us with various stories....i.e. this cave was full of leeches, monsterous snakes and gigantic centipedes...etc.
But we teachers could not be easily fooled.
Adventure begins
We entered the main entrance at approx. 11.45am. The first thing we saw in the cave was a narrow pathway and stairs. We got to walk along the narrow pathway and climb stairs.
As we moved along, we soon arrived at a platform.
As we moved along, we soon arrived at a platform.
Wet~Wet~Wet
The river adventure starts here where all of us got into the stream of icy cold water. The water was merely ankle deep...therefore there wasn't much of a problem to many of us.
I was quite reluctant to get my pants wet....no lah I didn't "urinate out of fear". My shoes and pants got wet when I hopped into the shallow water @ underground river.
What were you thinking of...huh?
What were you thinking of...huh?
I was as blind as a bat as this area was pitch darkness. Our movements were a bit difficult as we could not see well. Luckily, I brought along a mini torch light.
We had to wade through the river by kneeling and crawling.
Why? Glad that you asked.
That was because of the stalactites that grew towards the ground. They made the hole so short and narrow the we had to watch our head when we went through it. I hit my head onto the hard ceiling on several occasions due to clumsiness. "Ouch"
The "river cruise" was a challenging task. It required great stamina to go through it. It was quite tiring wading thru the water by crawling. Especially for people whom hardly exercise...like us. Our bones were simply too stiff to be maneuver.....!
Thanks to my colleagues. We all helped each other to get through this stretch of wet world.
Along the way, we came acrossed rocks of vary shapes and sizes. There were animal shapes such as monkey, bull, elephant, dinosaur etc.
It was up to our imaginations to describe those beautiful natural formations.
One rock which looked exactly like "man's jewel"....and as usual my male colleagues giggled as we bypassed it. "That must be the wonders of viagra.", I overheard someone saying.
Tok Misai then guided us up to a steep river bank. I began to question, "Is this the end of the river adventure or is there more to come?"
Sliding~Down
To my surprised, Tok Misai leaded us to a place where there was a steep rock in front of us. Guess what we had to do?
The rock was smooth and protruding almost 45 degrees to the ground. As it was too slippery to climb down naturally, we were required to slide down instead. Just sit on it and slide down.
The rock was smooth and protruding almost 45 degrees to the ground. As it was too slippery to climb down naturally, we were required to slide down instead. Just sit on it and slide down.
Before that, Tok Misai explained to us how to do it without getting hurt. One tiny wrong move, HABIS. There weren't any safety net or anything...no awaiting paramedics..what-so-ever.
We've to go one by one down to the bottom part of the rock.
As I'm afraid of heights, I began to fear for my safety. The rock was almost 45 degrees parallel ....which was scary to slide down. If anything goes wrong...bye-bye.
I felt dizzy just by looking down.
Oh boy..can I do it ?
When it was my turn, I just followed the instructions and slide down. Although, my male colleagues gave me the assurance that they would catch me when I reach the bottom but I simply didn't trust them.....! I gotten stuck halfway .....perhaps my body ain't heavy enough for the gravity to pull me down. Anyway..I finally reached ...SAFELY.
Mouse~Hole
When we were down there, we were shocked that there wasn't any more road.
No exit...dead end !
The only place to get down back to the river was through one small hole where only one person can get down at a time.
It was quite a challenging task for us especially those with XXL sizes. Luckily mine is ~ XS.
With beautiful team work and co-operation, all of managed to squeeze ourselves down thru the narrow pathway successfully.
Stairway to heaven
We got down to a land and back to the river bank again. I thought our next journey would be getting easy but I was wrong. We had to climbed a flight of stairs. Many many steps. Wonder if my feet could still move.
A grand total of 230 steps.....although I was in dazed but my mental calculation was perfect.
We continued our journey to the Top Of The World. There was a huge platform when we arrived. We were greeted by a breathtaking scenery.
It was indeed amazing to see how these rock was formed ; immortalise the natural architecture of Gua Tempurung......wonderful Gifts of God..
From the top platform we have to walk down through the stairs to the lower pathway. At the lower pathway we saw a rock with a few lines of Chinese or Japanese characters that dated way back 1959. I suspected it was the work of stupid pranksters instead of historians? Therefore, I did not waste too much time looking at them.
From there we went across the railing of the passageway and walk down a steep trail to the river bank. I felt as if I'm in one of Indiana Jones' adventure....
The Tunnel
As we move along, we reached a place call wind tunnel where a strong wind blew into the cave through a tunnel. The tunnel directed the wind from the main entrance into the cave. According to the guide, this is the only place as such tunnel was found. The air emitted from the hole as exactly like those of our air conds. Natural air conditioners.
When I lifted up my head and flash the light I could see a few bats hanging on the ceiling of the cave. We just walked along the short stretch of the stairs.
Back to civilization
At the end of the many stairs, we finally arrived to the exit. The minute I noticed light...I knew I had reached the exit. Yaahoo....I'm back to earth...the real world. Thanks Lord Buddha that no one was hurt, only that our clothes and shoes got all wet. Plus a few scratches and bruises.....but no fatal casualties..! The expedition was indeed a success but many of us vowed that would be our first and last trip there.
Though, I love this type of outdoor adventure but guess my middle age body no longer permits this kind of strenuous activities.
Even now after 4 days, I still feel my aching muscles ......as I'm writing this blog. The strenuous activity had taken a toll on my body. My aching body is the price I had to pay.

Beautiful Life
Beautiful Life
Well...my nightmare days are long over now.
Thanks to the Meditation that I had picked up through a Dhamma Talk recently.
As I'm able to sleep better, I no longer wake up middle of the night sweating profusely over some frightening thoughts.
I had learnt to accept life as something beautiful.
I began to reduce the weight on my shoulders and looked positively in life.
With lesser worries, naturally my stress level reduced to halves.
And hopefully it goes down to zero.
I'm able to cope much better now.
However, from time to time, I would like to write stories and post them in my blog.
I find writing quite therapeutic as I could channel my thoughts into words.
What say you ?
I'll write about my expedition to Gua Tempurung in my next post. Meanwhile, I'm still recovering from the strenuous activity...my muscles still aching.

Nightmare Blogging
Well...for the past few days, I had been posting my very own version of fictional tale
~The Mystical Portrait~
I had been experiencing a string of nightmares recently. And one of them occurred in a haunted bungalow. Therefore, I decided to make a story out of it and place it in my blog.
It actually started off as a dream. Initially, it was indeed a dream..where I was trapped in a haunted house. I encountered with devilish creatures whom wanted to take my life.
When I wrote the Mystical Portrait, all the events were scary ones.
However, out of the blue...I began to gain a smooth flow of ideas and thoughts to expand the story further. Therefore, John came into the picture.
As the story moves.....another idea emerged..whereby I swayed the plot into something "sexy". That's when all the steamy sessions came into the scene. I allowed my mind to wander but remained as discreet as possible with my words .
Obviously, I may not be like Barbara Cartland in her romantic tales.
This is my maiden attempt in writing a 'love story'.
Any comments, dear readers ?
I would very much oblige to get responses from you....so that I could access my writing skills.
Give..lah some feedback..!

Goodbye John
The Mystical Portrait~7
In the dilapidated mansion,
in the bedroom upstairs,
We walked out naked from the bathroom.
He dried me off with a towel.
And applied olive oil on my back.
He gave me a soothing massage by rubbing all over with his palms.
I felt so nice and relax in the fragrance of the essential oil.
We were so much into each other.
Once again we hopped onto bed.
John and I simply couldn't get tired with one another.
It was an amazing union.
The moment came and we were both ready to explode.
John was indeed a kind and gentle lad.
He was very tactile and affectionate.
He had excellent kissing skills every guy should own.
He was definitely the best among the best.
Making love to him was one of the best feelings of my life.
I was shaking as I left the dilapidated mansion.
It told him I was tired and I had to go.
But I would surely come back.
I could tell he was tired too.
But he would definitely wait for my return.
He then put a VanHouten bar in my mouth and led me to the door.
I finished the choc and he kissed me passionately before we bid goodbye.
He said thank you for a lovely night.
By this time it was five in the morning.
And I woke up from a sweet dream whom initially started with a nightmare.

Shower Love
The Mystical Portrait~6
In the dilapidated mansion,
upstairs,
in the bedroom,
in the spacious bathroom,
John and I were both in the jacuzzi examining each other body.
We playfully fondled each other's jewels.
It was indeed an erotic experience for both of us.
His hands cupped the treasure which erected my lil cherries.
He kissed me on the back of my neck and my shoulders ever~so lightly.
I shivered as he touched the right spot...the ticklish sensation.
I reached back and stroke him gently.
He moaned with anticipation.
We kissed as we both rubbed soap all over our bodies.
We gotten aroused by watching our reflections thru the mirror.
I could tell he was getting turned on again with the sight of my svelte body.
His jewel was as hard as rock soaked in the bubble.
I knew he was prepared for another round of wrestling with me.
Did I made love to John in the spacious bathroom, upstairs of the dilapidated mansion ?
The continuation will be on air tomorrow. Stay tune.
Meanwhile, yours truly gotta get prepare for my "Team Building" trip to Gua Tempurung. The bus will be leaving at 8 later. Am fully geared up for an exciting adventure in the cave minus John and the scarry bats. hahaha

The Union
The Mystical Portrait~5
In the dilapidated mansion...
John and I were hugging and kissing passionately in the bedroom upstairs.....
We were both completely bare as we fondled each other.
I could feel his hard treasure just as he felt my flooded canal.
The moment had arrived....we were both ready to consumate this union.
He slid into me....such heaven..I cried.
We went on and on...until we couldn't hold back anymore.
It was like.....
the explosion of Mount Vesuvius
gush of the gigantic wave of tsunami
We had a splendid union.
It was pure pleasure.
After the session, we lay holding each other.
I was in a dazed.
All I could think was I'd just made love with an amazing guy named John.
He had such an amazing body.
His body was gorgeous.
Once we'd recovered, he asked whether I wanted to have shower with him.
I was so excited and said yes.
Again, John led me by the hand and walked me to his spacious bathroom.
He turned on the shower and checked the water temperature.
I felt it was a bit too cold, so he heat up a bit.
We both climbed into the jacuzzi.
While showering......perhaps another steamy session ...
Don't miss my next posting.
