Mary and Lim Thau Tua (1)
Mary Parker and her fiancé returned to Penang to celebrate CNY with his family members as well as to make the neccesary arrangements for their impending wedding.
Mary and her Malaysian Chinese Hokkien fiance is scheduled to tie the knots according the chinese rites next month.
Mary and Lim Thau Tua have both done well in their respective fields. Both Harvard graduates with first class honours and currently residing in England.
Although, the couple had registered their marriage with the US Civil Marriage bureau but their union is unrecognized till they undergo the customary chinese wedding..
In the Chinese eyes, their marriage has not properly officiated until their notify all their relatives and friends including the dead ancestors !
It’s a big NO..NO for them to consummate their relationship right now.

“Tua Kin Su"…..if they share the same room.
It’s ILLEGAL.
Double messy if Mary is to get pregnant…..the poor child will be cast as illegitimate.
As a results, Mary had to temporary bunk with Thau Tua’s sister, Lim Leng Tua.
“Sis, hope you understand our Chinese custom though you might think it’s conservative. The older folks might be furious if they see both of you sharing the same room before your wedding. We want to avoid gossips prior to your wedding.”, Leng Tua explained.
Mary utters while embracing her future sis-in-law, “Don’t worry….I understand.”
The reunion dinner was a grand affair especially with the presence the Lim’s precious grandson, Lim Thau Tua. He had missed a few reunions as he had been abroad for a couple of years.
Everything went on smoothly. Though, Mary felt Chinese food a bit bland but she still swallowed the tasteless food in order to please the folks.
After that, Mary joined the Lim’s family to the altar to offer prayers to the God Of Heaven hoping that the family would be blessed with loads and tons of luck throughout the year.
An incident occured that changes Mary's life forever.
