New Semester's Headache

I've just collected my uni modules for the new semester yesterday.  Altogether FIVE.  Among the 5, I have to do my research study paper this sem.  Phewwwwww, with Lord Buddha's blessings, I know I can push thru.....

The two papers @ Pcycholinguistic and Sociolinguistic...hmmmm....they don't sound nice as I dislike theory and memorizing.  Hopefully I could glide thru like my former paper "Teaching of Grammmar".  I can forsee that from May onwards, life would be packed like sardine for me.

People often says that "Adults who work and study seem to enjoy the best of everything." For they get their education and at the same time are able to keep their jobs and get a pay-cheque. Nevertheless, it isn't as easy as it sounds !

Studying and working simulteneously is probably one of the hardest things in life.  Especially to those with growing kids, high job positions.. ......all these spell heavy responsibilities.  More often than not, time isn't enough as one have to equally divive her 24 hours for work, family commitments, and studies (espcially during assignments + exams seasons)....Lots of sacrifices on her part.

Here are a few personal tips that I wanna share with you about being a part time student cum working professional.

Time Management is vital.  I usually draw up a weekly plan to ensure that I set aside some time for studying.  The time varies fitting with my other commitments such as work and family.  I was aware that my weekends and holidays are likely eaten up by these commitments @ for my beloved Ah Boy.  However, I still managed to steal some solid hours for reading at night.

Self-Motivation by keeping in touch with coursemates.  Plentiful emails and forums to share ideas and brainstorm responses for assignments.  Telephone calls could rise to over hundreds ringgit.  Part time student easily gets demotivated when losing contacts with friends and lecturers.  As you can see, I'm distance learners and am studying on my own and only meet virtually with my tutors.  Therefore, I make the most of technology in order to 'cybermate" to catch up with my friends.

Rewarding myself when I managed to attain good results.  This self motivating habit tends to push me a lil further each time.  I usually go for a good facial session or get myself a good makan trip or simply buy myself a dress or two. Those are rejuventating my tired soul.

Set up a quiet place for study away from home life distractions, i-e television, phone calls or other family members. Always keep your textbooks, notes, computer etc in one proper place for easy access.

Make room for play. All work and no play makes Ann a dull girl. Play rejuvenates my soul and gives greater purpose in life. Once a while, I get out there and enjoy thyself;  allows the mind some rest but subconsciously computing the study

The key ingredien is working experiences.  That's how I normally answer my exams questions, based on my teaching experiences.....elaborating what I had gone thru and connecting them with the various theories.  That's the best part of being an adult student.

Unfairness

There's unfairness and lack of meritocracy in last year's candidates of APC (Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang) in my school.  All the 4 of them are of one 'particular etnic' group although the school staffs comprises on various races.  And many of them have been teaching in this school for more than 5 years or more.  Meanwhile The fours are not 'outstanding' at all.....and are juniors teachers whom have only    5-6 years of experience.  How about the seniors whom have been teaching for over 15 years....?  Just because of their race, they don't get the award...?  Mana boleh ?  Malaysia boleh.
Is this what you call 1-Malaysia ?

H1N1 Vaccine

Just had the H1N1 vaaccine jab this afternoon at the District Health Centre in Sg Dua, Butterworth.....this is the only Pusat Kesihatan that offers free vaccination to members of the public.  I was lucky that there wasn't any crowd and I don't even have to queue and while getting VIP treatment from the nurses.

It was a painless procedure, a slight pinch of ant bite.  I was given some painkiller @ paracetamol as a precaution.  BTW, this vaccine isn't suitable for those with allergy to egg and antibiotic.

I felt some heaviness on my right arm now.  Perhaps this is the after effect.  I hope I don't get any fever or rashes..."Touch Wood".

A lil info ab the vaccine.  It has a small tolerable amount of the actual virus in it. It is just enough for the body to recognize the invader bacteria and build up the antibodies for it.  I shall put my mind at ease and just be watchful of any symptoms out of normal.  Obviously, I'm worry a lil of contracting the side effects.

De stress

Managed to come out from that depressive, sad, moody self...after having experienced them for a couple of days......
Guess that's part of human experience at certain times of their lives when they're too tied up with work and commitments.
Must be that of my school workloads adding to my uni exams.

Meanwhile, Ah Boy had been picking up some kinda of bad influences through peers.  Began to utter several obsence words on a many occasions.  Caught him surfing some not so decent sites on the internet.

Looks like I haven't been spending enough time with him due to my tight schedules.  His sudden behavioural change scare me off and I realised my mistake of ignoring him whenever he approaches me or when he acquires for my attention.

I've set aside some time for him now.  And monitoring his activities both in and out home.  He'll soon be a young lad soon...and no longer a young boy whom often does "mummy mummy things" with me.

Alright..I'm off for a nice facial session...see ya later after rejuvenating my soul.

Anything wrong...?

Am feeling pretty down lately.  Can't figure out the reasons !  Many a times getting lost and can't seems to find the meaning of life..?  What happened..?  I don't know.

Just being plain healthy with no sickness, neither my school nor home commitments gotten entangled....nope..everything is running pretty well.

But the pain (not the physical though).  The pain grew and grew and I began to experience suicidal thoughts.  I realised that life for me was at a desperate impasse.  I thought of the driveway where I can sit in the car, inhaling carbon monoxide.  I stared at the static ceiling fan in my room as a place I could hang myself.  I looked at sharp objects as to be implement on my wrist.  The array of pills are meant as a chewy titbits for my consumption while sitting here.

Hmmmmmm.....what has gone wrong with me lately ?

Tsunami tak jadi

Thank Lord Buddha, we're safe.  Must be too tired after battling with my HBHE3203 exams yesterday that I slept like a log thru out the night....didn't feel any tremor nor earth movement.
The 7.5 magnitude earthquake off the sea of northern Sumatra had triggered our Tsunami alert system.
The quake struck at 6.15am Malaysian time (2215 GMT) and was centred 205km northwest of Sibolga in Sumatra at a depth of 46km. [quote US Geological Survey Department]

It shook high-rise buildings on Penang island along the coastal areas.  However, I didn't realise the entire incident until I received an SMS from a friend informing me.

Cuckooooo...cuckooooo....It's just passsed midnite....

Just completed reading (leisure reading) all the 10 topics of my HBHE 3203 module.  Exams due on Tuesday @ 6th April.  And I have just read thru the topics, highlighted the important facts....haven't got into the memorisation task as yet.

Wonder how to accomodate all them into my moisquito sized brain...?

Tummy growling....guess it's signalling for some snack.  So late already...what to eat. ?

2 minute noodles...hmmmmm
Dumped in whatever I have in the fridge.  Dou Meow, salad, carrot, prawns, sliced red chilly, hardboiled egg,...and yummy.
