The two papers @ Pcycholinguistic and Sociolinguistic...hmmmm....they don't sound nice as I dislike theory and memorizing. Hopefully I could glide thru like my former paper "Teaching of Grammmar". I can forsee that from May onwards, life would be packed like sardine for me.
People often says that "Adults who work and study seem to enjoy the best of everything." For they get their education and at the same time are able to keep their jobs and get a pay-cheque. Nevertheless, it isn't as easy as it sounds !
Studying and working simulteneously is probably one of the hardest things in life. Especially to those with growing kids, high job positions.. ......all these spell heavy responsibilities. More often than not, time isn't enough as one have to equally divive her 24 hours for work, family commitments, and studies (espcially during assignments + exams seasons)....Lots of sacrifices on her part.
Here are a few personal tips that I wanna share with you about being a part time student cum working professional.
Time Management is vital. I usually draw up a weekly plan to ensure that I set aside some time for studying. The time varies fitting with my other commitments such as work and family. I was aware that my weekends and holidays are likely eaten up by these commitments @ for my beloved Ah Boy. However, I still managed to steal some solid hours for reading at night.
Self-Motivation by keeping in touch with coursemates. Plentiful emails and forums to share ideas and brainstorm responses for assignments. Telephone calls could rise to over hundreds ringgit. Part time student easily gets demotivated when losing contacts with friends and lecturers. As you can see, I'm distance learners and am studying on my own and only meet virtually with my tutors. Therefore, I make the most of technology in order to 'cybermate" to catch up with my friends.
Rewarding myself when I managed to attain good results. This self motivating habit tends to push me a lil further each time. I usually go for a good facial session or get myself a good makan trip or simply buy myself a dress or two. Those are rejuventating my tired soul.
Set up a quiet place for study away from home life distractions, i-e television, phone calls or other family members. Always keep your textbooks, notes, computer etc in one proper place for easy access.
Make room for play. All work and no play makes Ann a dull girl. Play rejuvenates my soul and gives greater purpose in life. Once a while, I get out there and enjoy thyself; allows the mind some rest but subconsciously computing the study
The key ingredien is working experiences. That's how I normally answer my exams questions, based on my teaching experiences.....elaborating what I had gone thru and connecting them with the various theories. That's the best part of being an adult student.
