Need a breather

It's overwhelming to just go on reading and reading my modules....so SICK & FED UP.   Sign of anxiety and tension.  Hah...am too stubborn to admit it....hard to move the strong female ego in me..hah !  The edging pain at the lil corner of my head...a symptom of stress la.

Desperately needed a break....before I go cuckoo and collapse.   The stress is simply bugging me...too much. It's wrapping me so damn tight...I can't breathe..oh !

Do I have to reveal to the entire world my exams' blue so explicitly ?  What am I up to ?  Nothing ..to begin with.  Well...the initial tone of this post might sounded rather intensed as they are engulfed with my annoyance of being grounded at home, doing something I despite so much..READING my modules !  Many a times, I've mentioned, this blog is also my 'punching bag'.  Felt better everytime I regurgitate my worries here in spite of whether there's any one reading it.  I don't care about what I write as long as I don't keep them inside.  I prefer to clear the blockage inside me.  My heart, mind and soul opposed to claustrophobic nature. It's better to blow up instead of succumbing to my own   I N J U   W O R  R I E S .  Right ?

Hmmmmmm.... another post of rubbish.  Excuse me.

Building Relationship

A firm bond between mother and child affects reactions later in life. It reflects how well children do in school, how they build relationships with friends and how well they react to stressful or new situations.

Therefore, I decided that now is the time to develop a better bonding with my child. I personally feel that this special bond will further boosts his self-esteem.  Performing simple household chores together may strengthen the maternal bond with the child.  For instance....cooking session will definitely enhance our relationship.  Washing the car...may be another option.  Doing the dishes or laundry...maybe.

What say you ?

Bonding thru cooking

I had read this somewhere..."When the the umbilical cord is cut, the physical attachment between mother-child cease amicably.  This is when physical and emotional attachments begin."

Make sense !   Maternal or paternal bonding with their offsprings is important.

It's a norm for parents to take their children for holidays as they thought by doing so would make the kids happy.  With the hope that the happiness feelings would establish the closeness between them.
However, did the children enjoy the the trip ?  Have the adults ever reflect on this point ?  Sight-seeing, shopping, food tasting are usually part of the holiday's itinery.  Do the kids really like such activities? Do they fancy travelling long distance, bunking in hotels...?  Have we ever ask the children what they want ?

I believe, to enhance the mother-child bonding need not necessarily be done exclusively outside home. Even at home, there can be some form of activity which enabling closeness.

In a way, am supporting this idea, because I can't afford to take my boy for a holiday at present ~reasons my other commitments (my uni exams), lack of time, and financially not feasible.  Hey... no intentions what so-ever of seeking sympathy in this post...ok !

Bonding begins at home.  Thus, I decided to conduct a cooking session with my boy today. A partnership venture in the kitchen....producing....."Ann`licious Herbal Tea Eggs".

For a change.....Today's post is conducted in a pictorial form.  Enjoy !

The smiling chef .....ready to start.

Here are the ingredients. A dozen of eggs @Kampung eggs, dark soy sauce, brown sugar and a sachet of Herbal tea leaves (available at most chinese medicinal shop).
First, prepare the hard boiled eggs.

Carefully crack the eggs , remove the shells.
Put all the ingredients and eggs into the slow cooker. Let it simmer for 3 hours. Best leave it to cook over night at low heat.

Serve while hot.
Mission accomplished. His smile reflects happiness.

My boy enjoyed the bonding session with me.  Allowing him the cook the recipe hands-on.  This would boost his confidence as subconciously he would be proud of his ability cooking a dish by himself. An achievement....he could store in his memories and share them with his friends later.

Any comments dear readers..?

Love them unconditionally

Take time today to hug and be with your children

let them know we love them.

Reading vs Computer

Lately, my boy has been spending too much time in front of the computer. Am worry on the effect to his eye sight. Moreover, the computer games ain’t gonna help him develop his creative and critical thinking skills. I have to put a halt to it before it became a habit. Decided to instill the reading interest in him. But how..?

I know I want my boy to love reading because reading is such an important part of education and more importantly ~ learning.

I surfed the net and got this info."Make reading as part of a daily routine.'.....hmmm
I guess this would mean that I must start off as a role model. Have got to proof to him that reading is an interesting past time.
Read together ! Am actually reading every now and then....but mostly for academic purposes @ my revision for uni exams.

I’ve already set up a mini library at home for him since his pre schools days. I even read him bedtime stories every other night when he was younger. He does read a reasonable number of books then. But unfortunately, when he moves to Primary 1, he was more tied up with his school work, tuition to brush up his mandarin. Thus his began to read less leisurely.

Time was pretty limited for him as he spends his morning at the child care centre before the bus drops him off at school. When he returns usually late evening, he has to rush through dinner.... for his tuition classes. The weekends are not spare, he has to attend his music lessons and others. There isn’t much time left for him to really commit himself to leisure reading. Perhaps that's the reasons behind the lacking of reading.
OMG…partly my mistake for providing intense pressure on him.
A scenario of a kiasu mum….am I ?

Recently, I allowed him some space to indulge in his own interest since it's school holiday. He has more time for himself owing to his reduced tuition classes. I gave him the freedom to use the computer at any time he desires. As a result, he’s always on the PC all day as though there’s no sun rise and sun set. Partly because I was confined to home @ conjunctivitis and I could not take him out.

Today, I realize my fault and decide to put a stop……but I need to do it in a proper manner.

Even though, my exams around the corner, still managed to squeeze some time to take him hiking @ Mengkuang Dam. It’s 'win-win situation….as I got to release tension by doing some workout and at the same time divert my boy’s attention away from the PC. And I have the opportunity to reconnect the bond with him.

After a refill of DimSum brunch, grocery shopping was the next agenda. I was actually planning to bring him to some bookshops but our attires weren't appropriate @ body odour !

My usual place....Tesco Extra.

Noticed there were cheap story books on sales. RM1 per unit. Some kind of Fable stories in Bahasa. Hinted that we need to upgrade our mini library at home. And he agreed. Suggest that he choose a few. Indirectly, I'm practicing some kind of reverse psychology on my child....as I've planned to instill reading habit.

Am not pushing him but simply giving him the choice, allowed him to decide. Noticed.. I didn't put any force. I want the interest of reading to emerge naturally and unconsciously. It won't work through nagging or by force. I believe I have done a great nurturing job today ! Agree ?

Although, the books were cheap, simple and of low quality but I think it's the starting point to instill the love for books. I need to trigger the switch somewhere and today I somehow found the button ! I began by investing on something cheap and gradually proceed from here. Bookshops and Public Library are our next destination.

In the meantime, I would still a let him to use the computer as I feel if the drastic stop will cause a rebel. Mind you, he's no longer a toddler. He’s already at the ‘Concrete operational stage’ according to Jean Piaget whereby he’s able to think rationally.

In the next few days, I shall introduce some educational sites instead of letting him continue with the video games. I’ll have to sit with him to guide him.

Any suggestions…dear readers..?
